Situation
Earthquake and typhoon preparedness.
Japan sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire. Tremors are routine; major typhoons land every summer.
What could happen
Tokyo alone records hundreds of small quakes a year, and the typhoon season (June–October) brings flight cancellations, train shutdowns, and evacuation orders. Failure to follow official evacuation orders from the Japan Meteorological Agency can be life-threatening. Standard travel policies often exclude natural disasters — make sure you have comprehensive travel insurance that explicitly covers earthquakes, typhoons, and trip interruption.
